
Founder and President: John Nkugwa
John Nkugwa, originally from Uganda, has lived in the U.S. since 2001. He has coached soccer and basketball at City of Rochester Recreation Centers, for CYO, and was an assistant basketball coach at Harley Allendale Columbia. He is also a referee for RDYSL and CWGBO. Through his coaching and refereeing experience, Nkugwa noticed a lack of participation and foundational skill development for girls' basketball teams. He aims to provide training in essential skills for young girls in the City of Rochester and surrounding areas.

Treasurer and Grant Writer: Angela Nkugwa
Rochester native, Angela Nkugwa, serves as the Treasurer and Grant Writer for Nkugwa Team Impact. Under her leadership, NTI has become a repeat recipient of the Rochester Area Community Foundation's Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Legacy Fund for Youth Sports. Angela was named a Rochester Business Journal 2025 Forty Under 40 honoree and serves as the Category Leader for Construction and Design Procurement at RIT. She is also the Music Director at Saint Monica Catholic Church, and the Owner of Mirembe's LLC, a local events company specializing in elevated wine and music productions. As a proud Rochesterian and mother of two active children, Angela brings her business acumen, leadership, and heart for service to create more accessible sports opportunities for youth access across the Greater Rochester region and in Uganda.
